Dorogomilovo
La porte ouest de Moscou
La perspective Koutouzovski, la gare de Kiev et la colline Poklonnaïa — l’entrée solennelle de la ville à l’ouest.
Le quartier
Dorogomilovo grew as a coachmen’s settlement on the Smolensk road, the main route west. In September 1812 Napoleon’s army entered Moscow along this very road.
In 1914–1918 Kievsky Station was built to designs by Ivan Rerberg; the steel train shed above the platforms was engineered by Vladimir Shukhov. In the 1950s the old settlement blocks gave way to Kutuzovsky Prospekt and its monumental buildings.
In 1968 Osip Bove’s Triumphal Arch was recreated on the avenue, and in 1995 Victory Park opened on Poklonnaya Hill.
