How resettlement works
- 01
Residents’ choice
The residents of each building decided for themselves whether to take part in the programme.
- 02
Starting sites
New buildings go up in the same district so that moving does not mean leaving familiar surroundings.
- 03
An equivalent flat
Residents receive finished flats with no less living space.
- 04
The move
Residents move into the new building, and the next one is built on the site of the old — so the neighbourhood is renewed step by step.
Then / now
| 1950s–60s five-storey block | New programme building | |
|---|---|---|
| Lift | Usually none | Yes |
| Ground floors | Flats | Space for shops and services |
| Courtyard | Driveways and parking | A landscaped car-free courtyard where possible |
| Accessibility | Steps at the entrance | Step-free entrances |
General principles of the programme; individual buildings differ.
New residential quarters
Alongside renovation, quarters are being built on former industrial land — for example ZILART on the car plant site. Embankments, parks and schools are designed together with the housing.
Details for specific buildings, schedules and addresses of starting sites are published on the programme’s official website.
