Water transport
Electric river boats paid with Troika, the Northern River Terminal, the Moscow Canal and river trips.
The Moskva River has become part of city transport again. Regular electric river boats run on it with the same fares as the metro, and pleasure boats show the city centre from the water.

Electric river boats
Regular electric boat routes opened in June 2023. In 2026 there are four: the first is Kievsky — Fili Park, and the newest, Luzhniki — Kievsky, opened on 7 June 2026. The boats are electric and almost silent.

Northern River Terminal
The building with a spire on the Khimki Reservoir was built in 1937 together with the Moscow Canal. Its restoration was completed in 2020; the park around it has reopened, and cruise ships depart from its piers.
The Moscow Canal
The canal opened in 1937, linking the Moskva River with the Volga and supplying the city with water. Thanks to the canal and other waterways, Moscow is called the “port of five seas”.
River trips
Pleasure boats leave from piers in the centre — at Kievsky station, Gorky Park and Zaryadye. Some trips also run in winter on boats able to sail through ice.
